The name Titania is taken both from the queen of the fairies in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and from Wiinblad’s own imaginative ceramic figures from earlier decades, on which this new series builds. The Titania candle holder, standing 11.5 cm tall, features a fresh light blue tone beautifully combined with red and pink details. What makes Titania truly unique is her hand-painted hair, created from a multitude of painterly leaves in various formations that wave and flow stylishly and sculpturally in all directions across the glossy ceramic – up, down, around the ears, accented with beautiful reliefs, and down the nape of the neck. The hair on this candle holder is light blue and adorned with the prettiest little red and pink roses. The eyes are characteristically almond-shaped. The cheeks are round and rosy. And you will, of course, also find the iconic triangular nose, which stands out in a marked point beneath which a pair of whimsical lips complete Titania’s poetic face. It is almost as if, with her gentle and slightly mischievous smile, she is just about to reveal her big secret – but then decides to keep it to herself a little longer.
