On September 27, 1994, Philips and Alessi launched a collaborative project consisting of high-end electrical kitchen appliances consisting of a toaster, a citrus press, a coffee maker, and kettle.

The products solidified Philips' profile as design-driven organisation, and developed Philips' 'humanware' way of thinking.

The Philips HD 2004 drip coffee maker is part of a kitchen appliances collection designed by Alessi and Philips. The leading designers of the collection were Stefano Marzano, Alessandro Mendini and Alberto Alessi. The colourful Philips HD 2004 drip coffee maker is designed for use with ground coffee.
