The new LUNGO glass series by designer Adam Miller for blomus gets its name from the Italian word for "long". The Italian-inspired name immediately brings to mind the series' large and elegant decanter with its solid base – but the name also tells the story of the slower and more tranquil lifestyle of yesteryear. LUNGO consists of a decanter (available in two sizes) and a matching tumbler. Both are available in dark grey and a soft coffee brown – but it is the shapes that really draw the eye, which underline the meaning of eating and drinking at a slow, conscious pace. When these sculptural objects are not in use on the table, they are beautiful and decorative pieces that exude a feeling of peace and tranquillity. The traditional craftsmanship with which the hand-blown glass items of the LUNGO series are created includes typical characteristics of the craft, such as bubbles, streaks or slight colour variations: Seasoned glass blowers can also work specifically on the material thickness, which was incorporated as a design feature of this series, with a wall thickness of around 3 mm, a clear ice base and a precise, sharp-edged cut of the edges. In combination with the natural material oak, which is stained for the lids of the decanters, the result is a unique object with one-of-a-kind wood grain. Unlike the glass objects, the wooden lids are not dishwasher-safe.
