This printed placemat was designed by Sandy Chilewich as part of her ongoing collage practice. Atop graphic white, blocks of vibrant color come together, separated by a sliver of space that is animated by the hand-drawn outlines between which each shape floats. Each of the four lively color combinations is infused with the spirit of summer.

“I’ve always loved the art of collage—altering classic proportions and placing shapes together in unexpected yet delightful ways,” says Sandy. “In developing Freehand, I cut up rectangles and squares of brightly colored material and arranged them at slight angles, so that everything is slightly off but somehow still balanced. It’s the perfect graphic launch pad for a table setting.”

This Chilewich Studio edition is available in limited quantities, while supplies last. Durable and easy to clean, it will retain its rich colors and refined look over many years of use, indoors or out. Free of phthalates. Made in the USA.
