Moomin Arabia / iittala mug 300ml / 10oz Summer Dance (2026) *NEW*
SPECIAL EDITION ONLY SOLD IN SWEDEN
Moomin mug Summer Dance is part of Moomin Arabia’s new special collection, created exclusively for the Swedish market. The mug has a capacity of 0.3 liters. Summer Dance marks the beginning of a new series of country-exclusive Moomin collections by Moomin Arabia.
In the illustrations of the Summer Dance collection, the different characters of Moominvalley dance among a sea of flowers against a light blue, sky-like background. The artwork radiates the atmosphere of summer celebrations, making the collection’s products a perfect addition to a summer cottage, garden party, or picnic. Perhaps most fittingly, the Summer Dance collection is ideal for celebrating Midsummer, as reflected by the flower wreaths adorning the heads of Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, as well as the brightly shining sun in the background. Midsummer was last celebrated on Moomin tableware in 2016, when Arabia released the seasonal summer mug titled Midsummer.
The collection’s illustrations are inspired by Tove and Lars Jansson’s comic Moomin and the Scouts (1961). In the story, Moomintroll becomes infatuated with a girl scout. At first, the girl is not interested in Moomintroll, but the situation changes when Moomintroll saves her life. A jealous Snorkmaiden tells the girl scout about Moomintroll’s peculiar habits, leading the girl to leave Moomintroll and take up folk dancing with her new crush. Moomintroll returns to Snorkmaiden, and together they dance in the middle of a flower meadow. The Summer Dance collection also features motifs inspired by Tove Jansson’s comics Moomin and the Sea (1957) and Moomin Begins a New Life (1956).

Tove Slotte
Arabia’s Moomins are turned from stories to ceramic illustrations by designer Tove Slotte. She has been drawing Moomins onto Arabia items since the beginning of the 1990s. The designer draws inspiration from Tove Jansson’s original illustrations, which she adapts to ceramic shapes. The Moomins have always been close to Tove Slotte’s heart. She articulated the significance of the Moomins nicely when she said: I think everyone should enjoy a little dose of Moomin philosophy every day.
