Finnish design visionary Oiva Toikka’s iconic collection of Iittala glass birds first took flight in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory. In 2014 the production of the series was transferred to the Iittala Glass Factory, where Toikka continued his close collaboration with the glassblowers. Combining Toikka’s passion for nature and blown glass art, the collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions. Each handmade and mouthblown bird is a one of a kind art object. Birds by Toikka Little Barn Owl features the same vivid colours and big eyes of its larger counterpart but this petite version can fit in one’s palm.
