Firmly convinced by the power of the smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful Hoptimist movement in the late 60s. The goal was to design a figurine that would be a constant reminder of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Although the 1960s are often referred to as "the happy 1960s," the decade was marked by disturbing events. Therefore, the joy that Ehrenreich's design spread was welcome in a rather turbulent period. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists that the designer created: A girl wearing a dress with smiling eyes and an attentive boy with a stick on his head. Today, cheerful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and create joy all over the world.
