Lyngby Flower – when the vase becomes the flower. With Flower, Lyngby Porcelæn and Danish ceramicist Marianne Nielsen unite botanical beauty with sculptural precision in a timeless and elegant series of vases, crafted as true porcelain art, where each vase is inspired by an iconic Danish flower and interpreted with lines that inspire. Enjoy the daisy, pansy, morning glory and buttercup in a reimagined chapter of Lyngby Porcelæn’s design universe, where classic Danish floral motifs meet the clean, graphic aesthetic you know so well. Each vase balances the poetic and the functional. Made from the finest porcelain, they are shaped with a stringent, almost geometric approach, allowing the characteristic features and details of each flower to emerge through fine lines, grooves, and subtle forms. The result is sculptural vases that can be used individually or look especially beautiful together – like a bouquet in porcelain. The Buttercup vase in the series stands 11.5 cm tall, and although buttercups are often found in a bright yellow shade in nature, here they unite the botanical beauty of the buttercup with minimalist porcelain magic in a muted, delicate yellow tone. The Buttercup vase is a design object in itself, but becomes even more striking when combined with the other vases in the series, arranged together as the most beautiful bouquet. Daisy, pansy, morning glory and buttercup – all classic motifs in ceramic tradition. And this is far from a coincidence. They are familiar and easily recognisable. But in this series, they are also simplified and stylised to the point where they balance between figure and abstraction – and so can be read differently. Some are immediately perceived as flowers, while others may be seen as pure ornaments. This creates variation in the expression and character of each vase and supports the idea of form over decoration, where the flower is not merely an added motif – it is the very form of the vase. The stylisation reduces the flowers to near-geometric forms and thus naturally aligns with Lyngby Porcelæn’s always simple and pure expression. You will also easily recognise the design signature with the crisp lines that, in most of the vases, radiate from the centre of the flower head. The colours are inspired by the flowers’ own shades, but simplified and tuned to a more subdued and pure palette, moving away from a strictly naturalistic expression. Yet the overall look remains calm and balanced. And the colours do not highlight the form – they support it. Because it is the form that deserves the attention. The lines that inspire. Like flowers in nature, each vase has its own rhythm, profile, and beauty – but together they form a harmonious whole, rooted in Danish design heritage and Lyngby Porcelæn’s graphic floral history. And of course, every vase bears the iconic logo on the bottom, guaranteeing that you are holding an original vase design – from Lyngby Porcelæn.
